Lomography?
Hmm… What do you think when you first see this photo?
This is lomography done in digital style, well, by software of course. Not so sure how many people know about lomography, but I myself never tried one before. In fact, I don’t know much about lomography at all.
But one of my friends in Malaysia showed her first lomography work at facebook once. I kinda like it, the way how people shoot lomo. Everything is impromptu, casual, and lighthearted. But what a waste since she never do any more of her lomography after that. I guess she’s too caught up with her work.
Wish to shoot lomo with her, to take a look at the world with her with a different perspective. I never tell her that I wish to do photography with her. It’s pretty strange that I kinda look up to her. Hmm…
Well, all I know is to replicate the feeling of lomo in this digital world. It’s pretty different I would say, compare to real world lomo. When can I have the chance, to do this with you?

I really like this, is it easy to through photoshop?
I didn’t do it through photoshop, but you certainly can get the same effect using photoshop. There are plenty of tools you can edit to achieve the lomo effect easily, one of them is Lightroom, which is a professional photo editing tool from Adobe.
I like it, but it doesn’t have the same feel as genuine lomography. It’s too sharp, and certainly has a digital quality to it. I love lomography.
It’s true that genuine lomography is different from the edited ones… But since I had already invested quite a bit in my digital photography, why not make some lomo pictures with just some software edits? Sometimes I even use those miss-focused pictures for fake lomos… haha…
For someone with a tight pocket, going lomo isn’t a good thing… film isn’t cheap!
Thanks for your comments!
Have a look at my blog about Lomography vs. Digital Photography http://dkformsma.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/lomography-lovin/.
film is not so expensive you know. If you can find expired rolls they are very cheap and just as good. For me it’s £2 a roll for expired or £4 or more a roll if its in date. Plus you can get very good film cameras very cheap. I rarely use my digital camera, but I always use my film cameras. I take them everywhere with me. The best part of lomo is the surprise aspect. Never knowing quite what you have shot until you get it back, couple that with cross processing and it’s simply wonderful.
I do think that lomography is more of a process of shooting and developing rather than just shooting. I know many people enjoy developing photos directly. For me, it’s just the same as I would process the raw files in software before printing it. And after thinking of it, I think I spent more on hard drives just to keep all my raw photos! Digital isn’t cheap at all!
Hahah yeah digital is very expensive. My fave camera I have shot on so far is the Olympus OM10 with the 50mm lense. It goes down to f1.8 and the pictures are stunning. You can pick one of them up with lense for around £50. It’s a brilliant SLR camera.
For me, I am just terrible at photoshop. I can crop and that is about it. And I can only do that because when I shoot on my Diana Mini it’s 35mm square format so I get black on the sides.
And yeah like you say, it’s not just about shooting, it’s about getting the pictures developed and being pleased with yourself that what you imagined in your head actually came out. starting out with analogue cameras really helped me to understand photography more and slowly learn about all the different things.
Wow… I am impressed by you since you develop your own photos. I don’t think I can devote much of my time into film because of that. The most I can do is do some shooting and then send them to develop…
I did some research on the net, I couldn’t find that Olympus camera that you mention in my area, but I tried looking for some Pentax film cameras, since I own some simple lenses by them… Price it’s pretty good, but just feeling that buying 2nd hand online is a bit daunting, since I never did that before… Maybe you can offer me some tips?
I’ve just boguht a 2nd hand Olympus OM10 with wide angle lense for under £30. It is a bit of a risk but if you do it through ebay then you should be protected, so long as they say that it is working. Though it is a pain to get it all sorted so I’ve heard. Other than that, just go into a 2nd hand camera store. They normally offer 6 month gaurentees with cameras.
If you did that then I would advice just shooting a test roll first. To make sure all the functions work. I like the look of Pentax as well but have never shot on them. I am on a Zenit at the moment. Heavy camera but nice pitures, but i don’t like the lense as much as the one of the olympus. Personal preference though really.
The cool thing about film slrs now is that you can get the cameras that pros were using for everything, and very cheap.
this is my flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebastardchild/ the first page and a half are all pictures taken with the OM10.
